Bio
Jason Burton is a Richmond, VA based singer/songwriter who has been in the business of music and ministering to people through that music for over 8 years. Jason was one half of the critically acclaimed duo “Belief”. His sister, Sarah, was the other half. They spent the better part of 2000-2004 traveling, touring and making records. Playing in mostly churches, coffeehouses, and colleges, Belief drew a surprisingly large amount of fans all across the country. They released several songs to Christian radio and scored 2 top 20 hits on the Christian Radio Weekly Charts in 2002 and 2003. Being an unsigned group just leading worship and ministering as they always had, this radio airplay opened the doors for national touring and a brand new audience outside of the mid-Atlantic region where they were known. Stations from Dallas to Rapid City played Jason’s and Sarah’s music. From the emails, letters, and phone calls it was apparent that God was indeed using the music they created to glorify Himself and draw others to Him.
Late in 2005 Sarah and Jason did their last concert together as Belief, and Sarah turned her attention to missions. Jason led worship for awhile at his home church but God had other plans. After a period of deep searching for truth, getting into the Word of God, and letting the Lord clean out his heart, Jason began to travel and tour again. He put out his first solo cd in the Fall of 2006 called “The Aroma Of Sound”. He enlisted several top notch musicians to play on this cd including Dave Moody (Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw), Tim Smith (Bebo Norman, Sara Groves), Tony Creasman (James Taylor, Alison Krauss), and Andy Osenga (Caedmons Call). In September of 2007 Jason was invited to the Pentagon to play for the memorial service for men and women who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in 2001. He was able to minister in the ceremony and afterwards open for the popular Christian music group, “The Newsboys”.
It was while on tour in the Spring of 2007 that Jason met his future wife, Kristi, in South Dakota. She was a music teacher and symphony violinist and most importantly a Godly woman seeking the Savior’s heart. Married in early 2008, Kristi now travels with Jason as a partner in ministry and lends her talents on stage and off.
The music Jason creates and plays is acoustic based pop with hints of folk. Influences range from Shane and Shane, Keith Green, and Bebo Norman to Chris Tomlin and Andrew Peterson. Armed with a great sense of humor, stage presence, and an intense desire to see people changed by the power of God, Jason is excited to see what God has in store for this next chapter in his life. On stage Jason is just himself. He is real and seeks to let God use his gifts to influence those listening.
Offstage, Jason loves politics, sports, playing games, and spending time with his wife. He loves reading and pouring over early revivalist preachers’ sermons. His favorite sports teams are the Virginia Cavaliers and Texas Rangers. He attends Community Christian Fellowship Church just outside Richmond, VA when not on the road.
